  4. Use Screen page 2 of System - Settings to select the display type to be 
  5. associated with the SVGA adapter installed in the system. 
  6.  
  7. Note:   Be sure to select the correct display type to avoid problems with 
  8.         displaying the OS/2 Desktop when you restart the system.  For more 
  9.         information about a wrong display type choice, select "Correcting 
  10.         display type choices" in the "Related Information" section below.

  25. Use this field to select the type of display from the list of available display 
  26. types.  Each field contains the model name and manufacturer name. 
  27.  
  28. The list is sorted alphabetically by the adapter manufacturer names. The 
  29. current display configuration is highlighted.  Use the View Current 
  30. Configuration button to obtain the more detailed information on the 
  31. capabilities of the current display. 
  32.  
  33. If you cannot find your display in the list, consult the data sheet 
  34. specification for your display and find a compatible display type in the list. 
  35. A compatible display type is one which has the same or lower vertical refresh 
  36. scan rate in all resolutions as your display has. 
  37.  
  38. Note:   Selecting an incompatible display may result in damage to your display.

  43. Use this button to obtain a more detailed description of the current display 
  44. capabilities.  The list includes supported resolutions and the maximum vertical 
  45. and horizontal scan rate as specified in the data sheet supplied by the display 
  46. manufacturer.

  49. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ <hidden> Correcting Display Type Choices ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  51. If you select an incorrect display type for the display that is attached to 
  52. your video adapter, do the following to undo the display type selection and 
  53. restore the desktop to its normal appearance: 
  54.  
  55.   1. Start an OS/2 or DOS session by starting the system from drive A. 
  56.   2. Change the directory to the \OS2 subdirectory located on the drive where 
  57.      OS/2 is started. 
  58.   3. Delete the file named VIDEO.CFG. 
  59.   4. After you have deleted this file, restart the system. 
  60.   5. Use Screen - page 2 of the System - settings to select the correct display 
  61.      type.

  63. If your display is still out of sync, do the following: 
  64.  
  65.   1. Boot DOS or Windows**, and start a DOS session. 
  66.   2. Run a display configuration utility supplied by your video adapter 
  67.      manufacturer. 
  68.   3. Select an appropriate monitor according to the instructions given in the 
  69.      display utility. 
  70.   4. Execute SVGA on from your command prompt.  The SVGA utility resides in the 
  71.      \OS2 subdirectory on the drive where OS/2 is started. 
  72.   5. Restart the system.
